sougat paul

A childhood fascination with colours and architecture coupled with a talent for art and design led designer Sougat Paul, to study at the prestigious National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) in India. Following completion of his degree he gained experience working with an Indian womenswear brand and in 2009 Sougat's own brand label Soup was formed the word 'soup', taken from the initials of his name. The goal of Soup was to create a brand that was classy, subtle and slightly coy, with attention to detail being the key element of the label. collection being derived from simple objects such as a paper cut out or basket weavers. The signature mark of the label is the use of innovative texture and embroidery developements. Although only a year old the brand is increasing in popularity both locally and internationally and was recently showcased at the world renown Lakme Fashion Week. With credits in both the U.S. and the Gulf region the Soup brand will be begin retailing in London and Germany by the end of 2011.
